What's the difference between Soft and Hard Enamel pin badges?

1. Soft enamel

  • A type of enamel that is not baked onto metal. This gives the enamel a softer finish that can be susceptible to chipping and scratching.
  • They have raised metal edges that give them texture.
  • Soft enamel can also be printed in more colors than hard enamel, making it ideal for pins with complex designs.
  • Soft enamel pins are often used for mass-produced pins because they’re more cost-effective than hard enamel pins.

2. Hard enamel

  • A type of enamel that is baked onto metal at a high temperature. This gives the enamel a glass-like finish that is very smooth and durable.
  • Hard enamel is often used for pins because it can be polished to a high shine and will not chip or scratch easily.
  • Hard enamel pins are often used for high-quality custom pins because they have a luxurious feel and look.
